Former Employment and Projects
I have diligently worked towards my goal as an editor in various ways for the past several years. Below are brief descriptions of related positions, projects, and courses. These include my work in or as:
- Publishing Intern at the Digital Publishing Institute
- Personal Assistant to Dr. Edwin Flowers
- Governor’s Internship Program with the West Virginia Division of Culture and History
- Relevant coursework, projects, writing, and research
Publishing Intern at Digital Publishing Institute
In the Fall of 2016, I completed my capstone course to finish my English major by interning with Dr. Cheryl Ball, associate professor at West Virginia University (WVU) and director of the Digital Publishing Institute (DPI).
My work with Dr. Ball was divided into two categories. I would:
1) Learn managerial editor skills while managing a crop of new editors under Dr. Ball’s tutelage in her Fall 2016 302 Editing course.
2) Work as a publishing intern on staff at the DPI, completing various tasks related to OpenAccess, the Bad Ideas About Writing collection of essays, and other editing.

Personal Assistant and Editor to Dr. Edwin Flowers
I have had the pleasure of working for Dr. Flowers for over the past year in the capacity of personal assistant and editor. I complete many secretarial and administrative tasks for Dr. Flowers such as cataloguing and organizing files, preparing media, correspondence, and most importantly as sole editor of his memoir, Military Life: From Barnyard to the Strip.

Governor’s Internship Program with the West Virginia Division of Culture and History
During my time at the WV Division of Culture and History, I worked in various departments including the Arts department and the West Virginia State Archives.
In the Arts department, I summarized individual artist grants for the 2015 award period, assisted in the writing and editing of ArtworksWV, helped coordinate Poetry Out Loud materials, and contacted departments in other states to inquire about their STEAM programs in order to inform our own.
In the WV Archives, I performed basic cataloguing and secretarial functions of the archives, but also wrote new highway historical markers (which the Archives are tasked with managing).
